Hello, anyone who happens to stumble upon this blog post!
While it is incredibly late in the month, I realized I should have said something about NaNoWriMo.
NaNoWriMo, for those who don't know, stands for National Novel Writing Month and it is a challenge to write a novel, or at least the first 50,000 words over the course of November.
I discovered it two years ago with it already nearly over and immediately loved the idea. I was determined to at least make a dent in that amount.
I wrote a grand total of four thousand something odd words. Which might be one of those little dings you notice in your car door and make a big deal about, but no one else thinks much of.
Last year I tried again, determined to do better. I managed a little over 5,000 words and decided my ideas were too complicated and that I didn't have time. I think I wrote it all one Saturday morning before my mom told me I needed to get off the computer and do something useful.
This year I am a college student. I have early morning classes, night classes, and then orchestra at a high school for between 45 minutes and 3 and a half hours depending on the day in the middle. I was part of a dramatic production. I had concerts to prepare for. I still have concerts to prepare.
But I pretty much decided not to care that my schedule was insanity and decided that the world would just have to deal with it, I was going to write a novel.
It's probably one of the most empowering things you can decide to do. Before I started I wasn't sleeping well, and was dealing with all manners of nervous energy. I seriously doubted my capabilities.
Now, twenty seven and a half days later, I have more than 45,000 words, and 85 standard pages in word. I'm on par for completion. It feels absolutely amazing.
My story might not be near being finished, but I have a massive start. Nearly every single day I have written something, whether it be a few dozen words or a few thousand. I've met wonderful, kind people also working to get their ideas out to the world.
But when November ends, I won't stop writing. Just because it will no longer be the officially sponsored and encouraged month of writing doesn't mean I won't try and do the same every month.
So I encourage you to write. If you have words inside of you, get them out on paper. Let them be self realized. You are beautiful. You have ideas and thoughts, and they matter. Remember that.

Musician - Will Robert
While in Cambridge I had the pleasure of watching many street musicians perform, and all of it was fantastic. I'm a sucker for music in the streets, and it enthralls me to hear people who are so into the music and so unrestricted in their expression. One such artist I saw performing was Will Robert.
He was a lovely young man with a guitar and microphone, singing and playing his self written music. In his guitar case he had CD's he was selling for a few pounds and I brought one home for a friend. She listens to it often.
His first album as the one I bought from him off the street, and it is called Line of Sight. His second album is called Mosaic.
If you'd like to hear some of his music he has a website up with a Listen in button which has some demo songs at this link http://www.willrobert.com/music.html
You can also check out some of his work here:

The above link is to the UK amazon site that is selling Line of Sight, but which also has previews of the songs.

Check some of his work out and tell me what you think! Hope you enjoy it.

Just a bit about me.
Hi,
I've started yet another blog, but this time it isn't really about me. Sure it will be comprised of things which I enjoy and things I've discovered, but around 80% of it should be about people I would like to highlight. Whether it be the somewhat obscure and lovely, the up and coming, or those simply who really deserve more attention then they've got, or had. Basically it will be me raving about amazing things. You don't have to agree with my tastes, and I'd be thoroughly surprised if anyone agreed with all of my thoughts. Quite frankly my taste can be bizarre at times, but if I can suggest at least one thing that someone else will enjoy then I will feel I have succeeded.
If you have a suggestion for me, feel free to leave a comment. If you don't appreciate my taste in music/reading/etc then you really don't need to flame me about it, because it does little or nothing to my original opinion, and I don't really see what kind of purpose it would serve.
Have a fantastic day and don't forget to be awesome!
